Despite our "poor" strikeforce, last year we were 13th in GF in the PL with 41 goals. Those came from 13 different players.

We've lost five players who scored 17 of those goals (Borini, Bardsley, Ki, Colback and Gardner).

We've brought in four players who scored 18 league goals last season (PVA, Alvarez, Gomez and Buckley).

Larsson and Cattermole have already equalled last seasons goal output and we've picked up one from Rodwell. Wickham will continue to improve, a healthy Fletcher should score more than three this season and anything from Altidore is a bonus.

We'll be fine.

Glaring omitted the most important fact.
None of the four players who have come in , scored their goals in the PL. In fact all were in vastly inferior leagues.
Basically makes your post irrelevent.
 
happy to agree tentatively with most of that but i don't think we'll see a healthy Fletcher any time soon. Garbage so far this season.

In 2012-2013, the five players who chipped in 17 goals for us last season scored a grand total of eight in the PL with six of those coming from Gardner (none for Ki or Colback and one each for Bardsley and Borini).

Try to have a little bit of faith and optimism.

I'm not sure AJ can repeat his goal tally of last season either if we are looking at the chances of us scoring less than last year's 41 goals. We'll potter along at about a goal a game - which means that we need to keep it really tight at the back and nick a lot of tight games by the odd goal. That's the problem - are we good enough to see out tight games when winning and are we good enough to get back into them if we go behind first? Certainly our ability to score when losing is poor against the lesser teams.

As for players scoring goals in the Championship - that really is about as irrelevant as it gets!

Gomez and Buckley scored in the championship, big difference from the premier legue
