Police video

Circulating the Internet at the minute, some Scottish moron having a go at 2 police officers who are parked up with a speed camera, but apparently are "breaking the law as they aren't in a visibly marked car"

My 2 problems with this video are:

1. Anyone who speeds in a car is a arsehole, but anyone who argues a case against those who are stopping speeding are even worse, I think they should be in unmarked cars! Then it'll catch the idiots who do it and could potentially cause an accident.

2. Who the hell does this bloke think he is to speak so disrespectfully to a female police officer? It seems a lot of people nowadays have no respect for what these officers actually do.

I'll try and get a hold of a link and post it.

Whilst I agree with the premise that if you don't speed you've got nothing to worry about, if the cops in the video were in fact in the right, they'd have locked the fella up and not drove off with their tails between their legs.

It would appear that the cameraman was right and like it or not, there are rules and regulations that have to be adhered to.

I'm going to be boring on fall on both sides, in terms of a) If you've broken, the law you've broken the law, deal with it but also

b) The police have a lot of power which can escalate pretty quickly and to a frightening degree, and keeping them accountable, asking for transparent explanation of the law and reminding them that they are public servants is absolutely something they should not be opposed to. Even if the people doing it are doing it in a cu-tish way like they are above. If you're a police officer you have way to much power to just react at a whim or on the basis of your emotion. You're entitled to respect but not to the degree where it means you can be covert about your job or powers if you don't get it. Clearly the guy, though being a dick about it, was right to be suspicious, because he didn't face any charges and the police didn't have anything to say apart from try to intimidate or confuse him into backing down.

'Who the hell does this bloke think he is to speak so disrespectfully to a female police officer?'

You're the one who made it a gender issue petal.

Right I didn't intentionally mean to make it a gender, in the video he was speaking directly to the woman, don't be a arsehole and turn it round into a f***ing sexism argument for god sake.

Does the law state that they need to be in a visibly marked car, does anyone know?

I'm not sure, according to this bloke yes, but like someone else pointed out it could be a Scottish regulation

For the piece of kit they are using (unipar speed gun) they need to be clearly visible. That means they either need to be sitting in a marked police vehicle, or they need to be stood outside of their vehicle in high vis clothing.

Police officer
Female police officer

Can you spot the difference?
