They all cheat and try to gain an advantage. Teams like Stoke base their game plan around systematic cheating. They should keep their mouths shut when ref makes a mistake because their behaviour makes his job far harder than it would be.
Larsson should have had foul against Tottenham but then he dived earlier in season to get penalty (Wolves?).

what he said was goin down basically highlights the foul.

he showed 2 very similar examples, one where a lad was fouled, went down, pen. and another where a lad was fouled, stayed on his feet, ref gave nowt and the chance was missed.

I think most punters wouldn't mind seeing players get three match bans for diving. That includes Larsson for me. Prefer our players to be honest myself.

yet again the larsson one crops up  TWO refs have looked at it AFTER the event and BOTH said it is a penalty. so how is he goin to get banned when they all say it was a foul? you dont actually have to be hit for a foul to be given. larsson had 2 choices, get whacked or avoid it. either way it was a foul.

Well considering Neville actually brought it up in the discussion on tv you can see why it crops up on this thread.

Winds me up as well. They all sit on the fence with contentious decisions with the old 'there was contact' line. It's a contact sport, it doesn't mean every time you brush bootlaces with an opposition player that it's immediately a f***ing foul.

Exactly this.

links? Dont remember seeing anything to that extent.

Horrendous dive IMHO.

I prefer Niall Quinn's oppinion on diving/cheating/playacting - "a few red cards would soon put a stop to it" or words to that effect last night

I think some are missing the point here.

There is gamesmanship and there is cheating.

Diving when someone tackles you with or without contact is gamesmanship or unsporting behaviour if you want to call it that.

Kicking a defender who is rooted to the spot and then diving is cheating.

Neville hid this fact with smoke and mirrors and other examples of "gamesmanship"

At least he says it tho. Big hand
What he said last night on 'diving' was not stating the obvious at all. I'd imagine the majority of fans disagree with him. I agree with him, there are about five or six instances every game around the pitch where a player goes down easily to draw the referees attention to a foul, you can't be giving retrospective three game bans to all of them, there'd be no fuckers left to play.

I just wish commentators like Jonathan 'f***ing' Pearce would stop spouting shite when looking at slow motion replays such as

"Ooooh, well there was certainly contact, so he entitled to go down down"

It boils my piss

This for me.Spoiling the game in my opinion.

What about Zamora at SOL. Cheating or Gamesmanship?

I still disagree with him.

I think this is the point some of the more perceptive pundits are making.

When the majority of fans think players have stepped over the mark from gamesmanship to blatant cheating it will have to be stopped.

Ashley Young has done that for me it remains to be seen if it has done that for the majority of fans.
