History

The Jarrow Branch S.A.F.C.S.A. was formed at the start of the 1980 / 81 season with Steve and Paul Dean at the helm, based at the Neon Social Club Jarrow. The Jarrow Branch have been one of the strongest branches ever since. You will always see some of the ‘Jarra lads ’ at the away games, for more than 14 years we travelled with Martindale’s coaches and more recently with Fairley’s coaches, many of our members rarely miss a match, we have a strong contingent of young supporters who have been seen cheering the lads on their travels who started as junior members and are now full adult members.

Steve and Paul Dean have been Jarrow Branch Secretary and Chairman throughout the 20 years the branch has been in existence as well as being past Secretary and Chairman of the once very successful Branch Liaison Council, which amongst other things arranged Inter- Branch Tournaments such as football quiz, pool, darts, dominoes and 5- a side matches. Steve and Paul also served on the Roker liaison Group under the leadership of Rogan Taylor and Steve is a current member of the SAFC Liaison Group, which holds regular meetings with the Directors, and officials of Sunderland A.F.C.
