Sunderland AFC has completed the signing of Middlesbrough defender Colin
Cooper on loan until the end of the season.
The players’ registration has been completed and he is eligible to play
with immediate effect.
Cooper has been given shirt number 14.
Mick McCarthy said; “I’m delighted Coops will be joining us. I’ve known him for a long time, he’s a an experienced professional and will be a valuable addition to our squad for the run-in.”
Colin added; “It’s a fresh challenge for me. The lads are playing really well at the moment and I’ll have to work hard to get in the team but it’s great to have the opportunity to be able to play football.”
Cooper began his career at Boro and following spells with Millwall and Nottingham Forest, where he captained the promotion-winning side, returned to the Riverside in 1998. He has played 19 games in the Premiership this season.
