I just can't think of anything to put in this box this morning.Tuesday, October 10, 2006
I had a dream where I was choking on something round my neck.  Woke up gasping for air.  That was shit.
Finished watching 'the path to 9/11' that I taped weeks ago (well, I say taped, I recorded it on my flatmates PVR, but I'm too used to using 'taping' for the act of recording a program).  It was canny, although I knew what was going to happen as I read it in a book a couple of months ago.
I read a bit more of one o fthe three books I'm currently reading.  I tried to squeeze in some 'brave new world' before going to sleep but I'm just really not arsed about it.  I find it very hard to get enthused about a book holds little interest.  I know I should finish it, as I'm sure there'll be some kind of revelation at the end, but I just can't be arsed.  Once my enthusiasm goes for a book I find it very hard to continue with it.
Realised upon getting up this morning that I forgot to buy more crunchy nut cornflakes last night.  i bought some alpen the other week when the shop was sold out of CNC, but I hoped to just keep it for emergencys only.  It tastes ok but fuck me is it dense.  I only filled about a third of the bowl as I knew it would be denser than the 'fill to the top' CNC's.  But by the end I was really struggling, it was like munching to the centre of some oat and dried fruit collapsed star.  Well, it may keep me fuller for longer today, hopefully.
I couldn't cope with looking at the smeered bogies on the wall in front of the urinal any longer so I plucked up the courage, wet a fucking shedload of  bog roll, and scrubbed them off.  Dorty fucking minks.  I had to clean my hands for ages afterwards, even though I didn't come close ot touching it.
Seems I have a justification for hating people not drying their hand sproperly after washing them, was watching something on the news the other day about hand driers and that and they said leaving the water on just makes an environment that is perfect for germs to multiply in and you may as well have not bothered washing your hands at all.  I hope I don't become all a bit OCD about this.
I'll try and upload my tom images tonight, forgot last night.

Guns, Germs and Steel - its not so much of a read as a slog - I've read three or four other books while I've been reading it. I'll finish it one day I'm sure.

If you like I could précis Brave New World if you like - is his mum still in the hospital or have you moved on from there?

'collapse' by jared diamond (same author as 'guns germs and steel' innit?). Although fascinating in places it did drag rather and it was quite a battle to finish it. What bit was I reading in Brave New World last night? Errr, I think lassie h ad just taken the savage out to a 'feelie'.
I think you may as well, I'm not sure I have the will to finish it

he hates the feelie - he despises the whole experience and thinks its immoral and impure. His mum dies in hospital and he kicks off - he starts throwing soma around and starts a riot. He gets hauled in front of the main number one guy - the savage wants to know why the 'civilised' society is structured as it is, why there is no passion, no creativity - he's told that by ordering the lives of the citizens, by desensitising them to love and to death, by conditioning them to aspire to do nothing but exist and consume the population can be more easily managed. No wars, a steady population, everyone in work - order was maintained. The savage goes into self exile but he gets found and is increasingly hounded by sight seers. In the end, such is his anguish at civilised society he tops himeself. The end.
