The banana is drifting to 'borderline' by the minuteThursday, August 31, 2006
I had a most pleasant evening.  Well, I say that, it involved an early night (half 10, although I could have gone earlier) so it wasn't exactly exciting or anything.  Just pleasant getting back into the swing of things and eating some lovely food, a nice veggie stir fry type thing, I haven't had a stir fry in bloody ages so this reminded me of just how ace they are.  Only downside was having to buy a fucking massive back of bean sprouts when I only wanted a few.  I now have over half a bag left with little idea of what to do with the things, bean sprouts on toast?  extra pizza topping?  Face it, they dont really work many places except for the old stir fry.  I have the same problem with spinach, I don't want a fucking massive bag of it that I have little hope of finishing, a half size bag would give me more than enough for the week but the giant bag is way too much.  I had a fucking great nights sleep, really deep with lots of dreams, some of which were quite odd.  I remember ken hom trying to get me to eat lots of grim food.  Seems we had a power cut in the night so my shower wasn't quite  hot enough so therefore shit.  And the oven timer was flashing, I hit buttons but it just made a little cooking symbol come on, I left my flatmate pushing buttons to try and get it to go away when I left.
I saw a man fall flat on his face while in the car today, waiting at lights and a guy walks along the pavement and just trips right next to me.  He's carrying stuff so really does go down very hard.  I waited to see if he was ok before I started laughing, as it looked like it fucking hurt.  He did the usual accusatory stare at the pavement he'd just walked across.  'Nancy Boy' by Placebo came on the radio, I haven't heard that song in a good few years, suddenly I was transported back to being 19 again.  I loved that song on its release and it just made me a little wistful.  So I departed and then ran up Bromley high street, for no reason at all, I just used to love breaking out in a bit of a sprint once in a while.  reminds me of a little story I read on b3ta.com's question of the week (I fail to remember the question) but someone was saying the thing they remember most dearly is coming back from a walk with their dad at about 8 years old and his dad saying 'Lets run' to which son replied 'why?' and he just said 'because one day we won't be able to' before they just started running home for no reason.  I found it very touching at the time.  Just looked it up, it was on the 'beautiful moments' question.
Boss is going to take me out today to talk to me about what is happening with replacements at the company and stuff, should be interesting.

Lots to make me think there. Vegetables - wholeheartedly agree. When did they stop doing loose veggies in supermarkets? Even the greengrocers across the road has a lot of prepacked stuff.

And songs taking you back places - happens to me at least once a day. Much more evocative than any other sense.

Nancy Boy is still class.
