monkey worldThursday, June 15, 2006
Dull day yesterday and another dull day beckons today.  I'm finally getting something to do at least, shame it is dull as ditchwater like.
Got some new medication to take.  I've taken it before years ago but in standard pill form. Now it is in a sachet, just a load of granules that you swallow with water.  Rather a lot of granules in one sachet though, just felt like having a mouthful of grit after popping them on my tongue, desperately trying to swallow it down with some juice before I started gagging.  Hopefully I'll get used to it but I'm not keen so far.
Saw the campest dressed man ever on my way into work, purple velvet suit, pointy toed green shoes and very camp glasses.  I could be wrong but I'm sure I saw a cravat in there too.
Off down to Weymouth for the weekend tomorrow, should be canny.  Quite like it down there but for some reason i really enjoy the drive.  It isn't particularly exciting or anything, but I just enjoy it.  I'll pop into Monkey World on the way down, it's not far from Weymouth itself and it's ace.  They have lots of rescue monkeys from lab experiments, and circuses and things.  They have some really fat chimps that have had some drug experimented on them that has made them forever portly, poor lads.  I think the gibbons are my favourite though, huge long arms and quite tiny heads.  They have a great call as well.  I'd like to sit in a tree with one and just chill for the day in the sun.

Monkey World!!!Thursday, June 15, 2006
It's one of our best friend's favourite places. I'd love to go, I adore monkeys. This friend has a bit of an obsession with fireman monkeys but I don't think he's ever seen one there. I would explain but it will take too long and probably be incredibly dull for anyone not involved.

What medication are you taking (if you don't mind me asking)? Granules sound awful! You'll get used to it, no doubt.

if you love monkeysThursday, June 15, 2006
then monkey world is the place to go. it's ace. I could watch em for hours.
it's pentasa (or mesalazine). had it years ago but not since. it's a fucking crap way to take medication like, if it was a small amount, fair enough, but it's like one of those sugar tube style sachets in size. urgh, have to take one soon....

MesalazineThursday, June 15, 2006
I take that too but I have the enteric coated capsules. Six a day when I'm poorly, four a day when I'm ok for the rest of my life. I presume the granules are for them to do their stuff all the way along your digestive system whereas the capsules just work in the colon. Pretty yucky anyways. I'm down to 16 pills a day now! I'm getting better.

3 of these sachets a day. it says 'slow release' granules so i don't know if that's the reason I have them in this format. would prefer a capsule by far
fucking hell, 16 pills? are any of the rest for your UC?

The steroids are and because of them I have to take calcium and vitamin D3 too. The rest are vitamins and stuff, hay fever and the pill.

You're quite sensible...Friday, June 16, 2006
to refuse them if you can manage it. I was in such a state I wouldn't have coped without them. I've been taking them for three months now and I'm still in pain and bleeding and due to come off them in another week. My head and feet have swollen to a ridiculous size and I've put on about two stone. All in all a thoroughly miserable experience. I'm assured the weight will just drop off once I've finished the course but I reckon I'm going to have to get some exercise done too. Ugh.

ok with mine but they still want me on steroids. they are very vicious things like, I put on a fair bit fo weight when I was on them and it certainly still hasn't 'dropped off' to this day, months after I stopped. Hope you're ok when you come off them though
