I'm having quite amazingly vivid dreams. Really vivid. But not nightmares so that's coolThursday, November 1, 2007
Well, more medical events...pffft.  Got home after chemo, had a nice friday night and saturday day but then I started to feel really grim.  Thinking it was just chemo side effects I went to bed for a bit but then I became really cold and had to almost cover my whole body, including head, to feel comfortable.  I knew I wasn't right but I didn't want to admit it as I was really scared as a virus can mean death while on chemo.  A night of failed sleep and we called the ward at half three and they got us to come in straight away, taxi in the middle of the night.  I got there and got sent in to my room and because I had taken a sleeping sedative to try and force sleep my eyes were really struggling to stay open.  The nurse came in and got me set up on antibiotics and got bloods for cultures etc.  The second most senior doctor was called in so I got the exact treatment rather than a night doctor trying to get a grasp on things and  treat me.  He was lovely.  As the nurse was setting everything up I was drifting in and out of sleep and opened my eyes once in a while to see a light above me with this white figure fussing over me, it felt very safe and serene.  I went to sleep as the missus curled up on a chair under her coat.  Doctor came in in the morning and admonished the nurse for not getting my missus a bed, they really can't do enough for you in these places.  The cultures came back revealing a very mild virus but I had to stay in until my obs stayed consistent for 48 hours.  My temperature kept returning but eventually it was knocked on the head and I got home yesterday.  Nightmare, but hey, it's all ok now.
I'll do a longer entry on this tomorrow, I'm going to get back to my weights and thareband, so good to be home.  Not that the hospital is horrible or owt but home is home.
