Felix, my lovely llama companionSunday, July 29, 2007
Hello there,
I had a smashing day out yesterday at the ashdown forest llama park.  Got there in time for a bite to eat before we went to the shed with the walking boys in to get assigned our llama.  There were about eleven people there for the walk so good to see the lads are popular.  The guide gave me felix, a nice white chap who had just been sheered and turned out to be very well behaved.  The missus got Nicholas who was a bit naughtier.  We set off on our walk and it was just like walking a giant dog, the llamas are very curious about everything and enjoy having their necks stroked.  The scenery was gorgeous, a nice sunny day to boot without being too hot or anything.  3 miles we walked for and they didn't require too much handling although they liked to stop and have a munch of the long grass and trees once in a while.  the missus was dragged in to a load of bracken by hers, apparently they like the feel of it on their bellies.      I should have some decent photos which I'll upload at some point, it was a smashing way to spend a day and something I'd definitely do again, their faces just can't help but make you chuckle.
I'm feeling a lot calmer today, I'm accepting what lies ahead now and just have to get on with it.  I'll ring Germany tomorrow to arrange when to have the surgery and then get all booked up hopefully.  Seems this fella has done loads of these ops before and has written research papers about success rates etc so that fills me with confidence.
I was just trying to take in all the scenery yesterday, walking along lovely tree lined paths with the sun glinting through the leaves it was all quite serene and it really hit me just how fucking beautiful nature is.  This incredible creation which we are just a tiny part of.  I really do appreciate my surroundings every day, I love to look up at the tree canopies above  on the tree lined roads in beckenham, just looking up in to those swaying leaves and branches takes you away from all things urban for a few seconds, even the sound of leaves rustling in the wind....I just love it.  It will sound drippy as fuck but even to occasionally reach out and feel one of the trees trunk, that incredible solidity that it seems strange to think has life and activity teeming through it just below the surface.  Maybe I'll get a job doing things with trees if I get through this.     It goes without saying that I won't be fucking doing advertising artwork again.
Anyway, I'm off to chill for today, just relax, watch some films and properly chill before the week starts again tomorrow, with all the ups and downs it will no doubt bring.
Oh, and once again, thanks for all your wonderful comments, you'll never be able to know how much it means to me, and I mean that, if I get through this you people will have played a big part in my 'battle'.
