Hello.
I have a pain in the neck, I've slept funny and it fucking knacks. All fucking day it's been aching. Which is shit.
Had a couple of pints on Friday night with the flatmate. He was late and the moody barmaids friend is running the marathon so she was getting the regulars to sponsor her. I had to sit and put head in hands and rub the temples in an attempted display of 'please don't ask me'. Thankfully it worked.
Saturday morning and off to sainsburys. An old boy was collecting for war disabled. He had his beret on and all his medals. Found a fiver in my pocket. Went to pop it in and he made sure it all folded up and went in then gave me a handshake and said 'thank you so much'. I've always wanted to talk to old boys like him about what it was all like but I've never had the balls to. I just 'not a bother' and made my way. Wish I'd hoyed a twenty in instead of a fiver, it wouldn't make any difference to me really. Sainsburys was busy and I started getting ratty quite quickly. I had to take control of the trolley from the missus as she was doing it all wrong. Part of my rattiness was due to feeling a little minging from the previous nights beer and also the fact I'd run out of crunchy nut cornflakes for my breakfast and couldn't face super dense muesli. A kid started fucking about in front of the trolley which was met with 'oh fuck off' from me. Why let your kids run round the fucking shop making it more of a nightmare for other shoppers than it already is. When I was a kid I just used to sit in the car when my mam and dad did the shopping. And press all the buttons in the car. I love buttons, I still mess on with all the buttons when my dad gets a new car. Used ot love it on his boat, fucking on with the GPS and depthfinder, much to my dads annoyance (not real annoyance, he found it endearing. I think).
Did fuck all for the rest of the day but had an ice read. Finished my book I was reading. It wasn't brilliant, they (it was a husband wife writing team) weren't totally clear about what they were getting at. But it did have interesting points. It's interesting seeing scientists being less 'bleak' about our place in the cosmos. There seem to be more and more who don't buy in to the whole 'we are a chemical scum on a piece of rock and metal'. I'm now reading 'the never ending days of being dead' and a book about alexander the great.
Popped up to a pub we haven't been to on Saturday night. The Oakhill Tavern. It was very nice, tastefully refurbished and a lovely old proper fire on one side. Later in the evening the owners dog popped out from upstairs to have a nose around. He was lovely, like a black labrador crossed with a red setter, gave him a nice stroke. Lots of signs saying 'please don't feed the dog' around the pub so I'm guessing he likes his food, much like all labradors. Me and the missus had a great natter about lots of in depth stuff. It was smashing. We intended to pop down the little sidestreet to the jolly woodman, which always gets rave reviews but we just stayed in the oakhill. Woke up this morning and both felt a little rough so we skipped the gym. We went up to christams tree farm in downe and fed all the animals. A lovely day and we both enjoyed feeding all the boys. We to the old jail in cudham for dinner, lovely spinach canneloni, I will have spinachey shit tomorrow. I love it up round downe area, I'd really like to live there someday.
Enjoyed the afternon reading my books with the sun streaming in through the huge windows and the muffled sounds of tennis from the neighbouring tennis club. Grand. |
