The Premierships Greatest

Why not watch Sky One on Monday night 10.00pm, The Premierships Greatest looking at the greatest ... goal, game, player etc.

A four part series staring fans from every club to have played in the Premiership and so that means someone representing SAFC, and would you believe it an SMB regular?

Who?

What?

Where?

Why?

How come?

So if you want a laugh and see who's behind the SMB, who's behind the book Why Do I Do it?, watch, laugh, stare, be amazed, be embarrassed, and as long as the TV editors haven't been playing revel in the Anti-Mag declarations and Mackem Radicalism ...

Mick releases four players

Sunderland AFC has confirmed that Mick McCarthy has agreed to release four players.

The players in question are Simon Ramsden, Chris Black, Craig James and Chris Scott. All have been told that they are free to find new clubs when their contracts with Sunderland come to an end in June.

McCarthy said of his decision, "There are a few of the younger players at the club that I've told I won't be keeping.

"It's only fair to let then know early because they need the chance to have as much time as possible to find themselves clubs when their contracts expire in the summer."

SAFV vs Norwich 12.30ko - MATCH POSTPONED

Sunderland’s game against Norwich today has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions across the North-East.

The referee, David Pugh, conducted a pitch inspection at approximately 8.30am this morning and decided it was unplayable.

The region has seen six inches of snow fall overnight and the MET office forecast is for persistent snow over the next six hours.

The condition of the region's roads was a key determinant of the decision to postpone the game, due to serious concerns for supporters travelling to the ground. Only sections of the main highways (A19 and A1) in the region are currently passable and minor roads remain impassable.

Whilst the club was confident that the Stadium of Light pitch and seating deck could be cleared in time for kick-off, the safety of all supporters and players was a paramount concern due to the continued snow falls.

Sunderland AFC confirms that all tickets purchased for the game will be valid for the re-arranged fixture.

Details of the rearranged date will be added to our News Index as soon as we have them.
