Sunderland make offer for Gray

Following on from Wednesday's news that Mick McCarthy was interested in Bradford City midfielder Andy Gray, the Scottish 'Daily Record' newspaper is reporting today that Bradford have accepted a verbal offer from Sunderland for the player.

Sunderland are thought to have offered £100,000 for the Scottish international, but may face competition from fellow Division 1 rivals Rotherham who are also said to be interested in taking on the player.

McCarthy linked with move for Gray

Sunderland gaffer Mick McCarthy is tonight being linked with a move for Bradford City midfielder Andy Gray.

Bradford have such serious financial problems that they're said to be on the verge of going back into administration, and have said they'll listen to any serious offers for any of their players. City are said to require funding in the region of £3m-£5m to avoid administration.

The 26 year old is a Scottish international, and prior to Bradford has had spells at Leeds, Bury, Forest, Preston and Oldham.

Gray has scored six goals so far this season, most recently in the Bantams' FA Cup third round home defeat against Luton (so he would be cup-tied should a move go through) and last season he scored an impressive 15 times.
