Sunderland AFC's Finest Matches 1879-1939

"Sunderland AFC's Finest Matches 1879-1939" is the new limited edition book published by Paul Days.

For those who don't know, Paul was one of the major contributing authors to "The Official History" which was published and endorsed by the club in 2000. He was also the founder of the website that went on to become the official SAFC website and has long had a keen interest in the history of the club.

Paul's latest book is a similar size to "The Official History", its A4 format and contains a massive 276 pages.

This time its "self-published". That does show a little in the style of the book and you will also find the odd typo in there, but don't let that put you off as its the content that really matters and Paul has left few stones unturned in compiling this.

I really don't think its the kind of book that people will sit down and read cover to cover. For a start that would take a long time, but its a superb "coffee-table" book and the style together with some of the old photographs and documents that have been reproduced in the book make it rather more like wandering around a museum than reading a book.

As well as the old photographs and documents the book contains several coloured plates/watercolours.

Its great that someone has taken the time to gather together and reproduce these before they were lost forever. Now hundreds of us (well 400 to be precise as thats the number of copies of the book which will be produced) can enjoy them.

Add to this the many facts that Paul has unearthed and of course the reports of the "finest matches" and you have a gem of a book.

We understand they are selling fast, but full details of how you can order your copy are available at http://uk.geocities.com/paul.days@btopenworld.com/
