SAFC to wear 'poppy' kits this weekend

Sunderland's team will once again be wearing specially designed shirts incorporating a poppy logo this Saturday to mark Armistice Day.

Local firm Washington Badge have once again given their screen-printing services free of charge to provide the players with these special shirts, which will then all be signed by the players and auctioned afterwards on the club's official website and the proceeds split between the Royal British Legion and the club's own charity, SAFC Foundation.

This weekend's game, against Southampton, falls on Armistice Day itself and members of 222 Signal Squadron, in full military attire, will form a guard of honour as the players run onto the pitch.

Members of Castletown Royal British Legion will be selling poppies to supporters inside the stadium.

The auction for the signed shirts begins at 10am on Monday 13 November, on SAFC.com.
