Lennie signs contract extension

Midfielder Liam "Lennie" Lawrence has agreed a one year extension to his existing contract, SAFC today confirmed.

Lawrence joined Sunderland in summer 2004 from Mansfield Town and his contract now runs until summer 2007.

Mick McCarthy said, "He has earned this extension, having made the step up from Mansfield and we're hoping he can step up again in the Premier League."

Liam himself said, "I'm delighted to pledge my future to the club and can't wait for the season to start."
