Piper signs contract extension

SAFC have tonight confirmed that Matty Piper has signed a one-year extension to his existing contract, which will see him remain a Sunderland player until summer 2008 - although he will not receive any extra money.

Piper said, "The club has been extremely supportive as I've worked to overcome my injury.

"I am settled at Sunderland and to be able to pledge my long term future as the club returns to the top flight is great.

"This is my chance to repay the faith and support that the club has shown in me and to show the Sunderland fans how much I appreciate their support".
