This Sunday's pre-match 'turn' is....

The Futureheads!

Press release from Sunderland AFC:

Sunderland-born band The Futureheads are to perform live at the Stadium of Light ahead of Sunday’s final game of the season against Stoke City.

The 4-piece, chart topping band, who will hot-foot it from the stadium to Herrington Country Park for the Radio One Big Weekend where they are headlining the second stage, have just returned from a sell-out USA tour and are currently winging their way around the country for a series of UK dates.

They will perform in the centre circle of the pitch at approximately 12:00noon, show-casing a selection of their hits for the sell-out Sunderland crowd.

SAFC contacted the band direct after the line-up for the One Big Weekend was announced, asking them if they would like to perform for Sunderland fans at what will be a huge day of celebration for everyone connected with the Club and as local lads they were happy to oblige.

The band’s debut album ‘The Futureheads’ has recently gone gold, selling in excess of 100,000 copies in the UK to date and their last single ‘Hounds of Love’ charted at number 8. Brand new single ‘Decent Days And Nights’ will be out on Monday 9th May.

SAFC Marketing and Communications Director Lesley Callaghan said:

“Sunday will be a fantastic day for the Club and our supporters as we lift the Championship trophy and we’re delighted that The Futureheads, a local band, will be joining us for this great occasion.”
