Breen contract talks underway

SAFC say that negotiations are underway to secure a contract extentsion for skipper Gary Breen.

Many supporters weren't confident of either the club's ambition in signing Breen, or even in the player's abilities when he signed for us in July 2003, but he's established himself as a hardworking player and crowd favourite.

Breen's contract runs out next summer, and Chairman Bob Murray has said that the player "deserves" a new contract.

Sunderland face Breen's old club West Ham at the Stadium of Light this weekend.
