Reserves hold Wolves to a draw

Sunderland Reserves let a two goal lead slip at the Archibald's Stadium tonight to draw 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers reserves.

The second string, under the command of Kevin Richardson for the first time since Jocky Scott's resignation, went 2-0 up courtesy of goals from Chris Brown and Michael Bridges.

Bridges netted his first goal since coming back to Sunderland in only the 15th minute, latching onto the end of a cross from Sean Thornton, who recently pledged to build bridges with Mick McCarthy and regain a first team place.

Only a minute later, Chris Brown got the Lads' second, courtesy of Wolves' keeper Matt Murray fumbling a catch and letting it slip into the goal.

But even before the half time whistle, Sunderland had conceded a goal, courtesy of Leon Clarke.

Then 15 minutes into the second half Wolves' Mark Davies beat Ben Alnwick to level the scores.

Bridges and Brown had further chances as the match progressed but the scores finished level, with Sunderland sitting second from bottom of the Reserve League North.

Sunderland (from): Alnwick, Lynch, Dodds, N Collins, Dickman, Thornton, Leadbitter, Oster, Kingsberry, Ryan, Brown, Bridges, Wanless, Christensen, Clarkson.

Wolves: Murray, Little, Rafferty, France, Björklund, Townsend, Gobern, Davies, Sturridge, Clarke, Musson. Subs: Riley, Hennessey, Fitzpatrick, Askey, Bennett.
