Away strip vote result

Black Cats fans have chosen to kit out the team in an all black away strip with red and silver contrast for the 2005/06 season.

The change kit was the out and out winner in the recent fans vote which took place on the Club's official website, safc.com and in SAFC club shops.

Sunderland AFC received an overwhelming response towards the poll, with over 6,000 supporters casting a vote for their favourite strip.

The winning kit polled over half the total number of votes cast with 59% of fans favouring this strip. The royal blue kit with red and white contrast came in second receiving 27% of the votes, while the green shirt with blue and white trim was the least preferred choice with 14% of the votes.

Club Chairman Bob Murray said: " We would like to thank all supporters who took the time to register their vote. It is important to us have a change kit which is popular with our fans and by holding such a poll we have been able to involve supporters in the decision to make sure this is the case."

The Club launched the poll last week after receiving three proposed designs from kit manufacturers Diadora.

Diadora have now been informed of the winning design and will begin the detailed design and production process in an effort to produce the 2005/06 replica change kit to hit the shops this summer.

The results are expected to be well received at Sunderland's training ground as the all black kit was the preferred choice of boss Mick McCarthy who was shown the designs last week.
