Reserves boss Scott leaves

Reserves team coach Jocky Scott has left Sunderland to be first team coach at Championship rivals Plymouth Argyle.

Scott knows Argyle gaffer Bobby Williamson well already, and said today "It's a job I had to think about because of the location.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Sunderland, but this offers me the chance to work at first-team (level) which I've done for most of my career.

Scott was at Home Park on Saturday to watch his new team's match against Wigan.

Pilgrims' boss Williamson said, "(Jocky's) vastly experienced. I've been on coaching courses that Jocky has staffed - he was actually the staff coach when I was sitting my badges.

"It was about 11 or 12 years ago and he had the sense to make sure I got my qualifications, so maybe I'm paying him back here.

"I know his qualities and I'm sure he can add to us."

Mick McCarthy said, "I'd like to thank Jocky for everything he's done for the reserves and the club as a whole. He's done very well for us and as both a colleague and a friend, I'm sad to see him go.

"Of course we're delighted for him. It's a chance for him to work in a first-team role and I wish him all the best."

SAFC reserves are currently second from bottom of the Reserves' League with only one win in eight games.
