Breen dismissal to stand - FA

Sunderland AFC can confirm that the Football Association have upheld Gary Breen's three match ban for violent conduct which he received during the Black Cats' game at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night.

The Football Association rejected the Club's appeal deeming it to be incomplete without direct video evidence of the incident. The appeal was therefore not considered by the Disciplinary Commission.

Sunderland had presented an appeal following Gary Breen's sending off during the Club's Coca Cola Championship match against Sheffield United. Defender Gary Breen and Sheffield United player Andy Gray were both dismissed from the field for violent conduct.

Breen will now serve a three-match suspension which will commence immediately.
