Players may have to go to make way for new striker

Mick McCarthy warned today that he might have to let some players go to help push through a deal to bring Mickey Bridges back to Sunderland.

Bolton and Sunderland are in talks to secure a move back to the north east for the North Shields-born player, but Mick says sacrifices might have to be made to secure the deal.

He said, "I have tried lots of players and I'm trying to get somebody in. If it's Michael then great, because he has been training every day and he is a good player.

"But there might be some movement out, because I have to balance the wage bill and keep the budget right and the people that organise it happy."
