Sky launches 'Football First'

Sky TV has announced the launch of a new service for those wanting to watch regular Premiership football.

"Football First" will see the broadcaster screen the entire 90 minutes of one selected Premiership game with a 3pm kickoff, every Saturday evening during the season at 8.30pm - known as "Game of the Day". The decision on which game to show will be made shortly after full time for all 3pm kickoffs.

Then at 10.15pm, choice from extended highlights of every game played that day - "Match Choice". Sky digital viewers will be offered a menu of up to eight Premiership games; they can choose to watch their own team or any other featured. Highlights of all games will run for about 50 minutes each.

Vic Wakeling, Managing Director of Sky Sports, says: "The days of some clubs' games being restricted to a couple of minutes of highlights here and there are gone."

Saturday night’s broadcast of Football First will be followed by a series of repeats of the Match Choice element, shown four times into the night and again at 6am and 7.30am on Sunday. During each showing Sky Sports viewers can select a different match from the full choice, via the interactive menu.

The service commences on Saturday 14th August.
