Oster signs new deal

John Oster has put pen to paper on a new two-year contact with Sunderland.
The Wales international winger made 48 appearances for the Black Cats last season and is looking forward to doing even better this time round.

“ Last season was the best of my career. It's was the season I've played the most football, so it was good for me personally, although obviously it was disappointing as we didn't go up. Our aim next year is to go one better."

Oster scored five times last season but wants to be on the scoresheet more often, "I hope to contribute a bit more in terms of goals. Next year everyone's got to, especially the lads in midfield."

25-year-old Oster is now approaching his peak years and he is delighted to have some new team-mates as Sunderland look to mount another promotion challenge, "The Gaffer has brought in some fresh new faces. He's obviously signed them knowing their different qualities so he's strengthened with good young players for the future.

"I'm pleased that Carl Robinson has signed permanently. I've been with him during some of the close season playing for Wales. He's a good friend who I've known for years so I'm delighted for him."
