McAteer goes from Cats to Foxes

Midfielder and former SAFC skipper Jason McAteer has signed for Mickey Adams's Leicester City.

The RoI international was told in May that his contract with Sunderland would not be renewed this summer, and on Saturday he agreed to a one-year deal.

Adams expressed his delight at the transfer, saying "Jason is a player who has operated at the top level and brings a wealth of experience to the club.

Jason will sign his new contract officially on Thursday and join his new colleagues the following week for pre-season training.

Sunderland will face Leicester at the Walkers Stadium on 13th November, and at the Stadium of Light on 23rd April.
