Fickling thanks travelling red and white army

Sunderland AFC today thanked fans for their loyal support, after the disappointment of Sundays FA Cup defeat, around 2,400 Sunderland fans made the long journey to Milton Keynes last night.

Sunderland's Red and White Army made up half of the total attendance as they cheered the lads onto victory over Wimbledon. Black Cats supporters seemed intent on showing the Mick McCarthy's men they had their full backing.

Vice Chairman John Fickling said:

" I was at that game last night and our supporters were great. Everyone was obviously disappointed from Sunday and the fans played an important part in lifting the lads and making sure we didn't drop a valuable 3 points.

" We've had so many games recently that it's been difficult for
supporters to make it to all of them but they really are like our 12th
man and I was delighted to see so many had travelled.

" This really is the business end of the season now and I only hope that supporters will continue to come along on the day because that's what we need at the moment. Our game on Friday is on Sky so I hope that doesn't affect the attendance."
