Julio's red card to stand

From SAFC.com

Julio Arca's red card, received against Wigan Athletic on Tuesday, will stand after match referee Ray Olivier submitted his report to the FA.

Arca's second yellow card of the evening came after the referee adjudged that the Argentinian had gone to ground too easily after a challenge from Wigan's Andy Liddell.

The first yellow had been shown to Arca after he reacted angrily to a tackle from the same player in the ninth minute.

Yellow cards can only be appealed against on grounds of mistaken identity, and as this was not the case on Tuesday, the club's hopes that the referee would rescind the second yellow card were dashed.

The club still has concerns that the decision to dismiss Arca was a harsh one, and will be making representations to the FA.

"We are aware that there is not a formal appeal process to have yellow cards rescinded," said a club spokesman. "However, we will be making representations to the FA giving our concerns about the decision."
