The wheels on Sunderland’s recruitment drive have all but stopped since the signings of Jeremain Lens and Younes Kaboul in the middle of July.
The outgoings in the last few days, however have started to pick up the pace. Connor Wickham, is on the verge of joining Crystal Palace after travelling to London for a medical today.
Will Buckley is reportedly attracting interest from five Championship clubs, according to The Sunderland Echo. Dick Advocaat seems to have made his mind up on Buckley, with him only completing 10 minutes of action so far during pre-season.
Although, Buckley is not thought to be on mega money like Wickham, the need to trim the squad and the wage bill is essential to bring in the quality we desperately need.
However, at this stage it will be interesting to see who actually joins Wickham(unless something drastic happens) through the exit door. Fletcher and Danny Graham are vulnerable with their contracts coming to an end. Mavrias and Roberge are in the wilderness, training with the Under 21’s and Bridcutt seems to be unwanted, bar a few fabricated links.
Plenty of activity to happen before 2nd September though, with Wickham almost gone, we can expect at least another addition soon.
